APOGEE: Frequently Asked Questions
Who can be admitted?
APOGEE is designed primarily for engineers with ABET-accredited baccalaureate engineering degrees. Any student with an engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited school must take the GRE.
APOGEE students follow the same procedures as the on-campus graduate applicants. To apply, access the online application from the Graduate School website or call the Graduate School at 803-777-4243. Complete and submit the application indicating “APOGEE” on the application where it asks where you will attend classes. The application deadlines are listed for each term on the Graduate School website. APOGEE students must submit proof of immunization before registering for classes. International students who will be studying in the U.S. on an F-1 or J-1 student visa must be enrolled full-time and are not eligible for admission to the APOGEE program, as it is a part-time program.
How does video-streaming work?
Students will access University Instructional Service's server at http://video.sc.edu. From there students click on the section for the College of Engineering and Computing. Each course will be listed along with the list of lectures. At the start of each semester, a password for each course will be generated and distributed to the faculty. Faculty members will pass on the password to all assigned students.

How do I register?
Once accepted, registration is a three-step process:
- First, contact the appropriate Graduate Director/Coordinator for advisement. Each student is required to be advised and placed in the appropriate course section.
- Second, complete and print the APOGEE Registration Form and fax it to your department. This form is very important since it will provide the necessary information for shipment of materials. Please click here for Department Contact information.
- Lastly, each student registers through the University's Visual Information Processing Internet site at https://vip.sc.edu. This system requires a Student Number, which is your social security number and a 4-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN). The first time you use VIP, your PIN will be the month and day of your birthday. For example, if you were born on May 12 your PIN would be "0512". To safeguard your security, you will be asked to immediately change this PIN to another 4-digit PIN that you will be able to easily remember. If you have forgotten your PIN, you can call the Registrar's Office at 803.777.5555.
